How to get GPS data on ubuntu

Setup gpsd-clients and gpsd on Mercury

apt-get update 
apt-get install gpsd-clients gpsd

Test for signal with the following command:

cat /dev/ttyACM7

Then you can see as shown below

$GPTXT,01,01,02,u-blox ag - www.u-blox.com*50
$GPTXT,01,01,02,HW UBX-G70xx 00070000 EFFFFFFFo*1B

Modify the default file which local at /etc/default/gpsd as shown below,and fill the device node name which we tested last step

# Default settings for gpsd.
# Please do not edit this file directly - use `dpkg-reconfigure gpsd' to
# change the options.
START_DAEMON="true"
GPSD_OPTIONS="-n"
DEVICES="/dev/ttyACM7"
USBAUTO="false"
GPSD_SOCKET="/var/run/gpsd.sock"

Restart gps daeman to use new configure

/etc/init.d/gpsd restart

Then you can use below command to see GPS signal .

gpsmon
